As the final weeks of the school year approached us, we wanted to end with a bang! As a campus we all decided that we would do a staff versus student round of volleyball. Over 2 weeks people spent their recess and lunch in the gym practising with all of their friends. All sport lessons were used for practice too. In the final week everyone got into teams for a tournament and the winning team would get to verse the teachers.
We played 8-minute games and whoever got the most points won that round. After round 1 the White Mamba's were in the lead and in round 2 the White Mamba's were still in the lead.
On Thursday at snack time, it was time for the teachers and students to battle it out. Everyone came to watch and in the first few minutes the teachers were in the league. In the last few minutes, the White Mamba’s got a second burst of energy and came back winning by 2 points! All of the spectators were so excited, and everyone was cheering. This was a great way to finish off the year.

On November 27th, the incoming Year 9s of 2025 had an exciting introduction to their Aspire 9 journey. This day was dedicated to showing us what the upcoming year would include and promoting teamwork among us. We participated in a variety of engaging activities that encouraged collaboration and support. From crafting Christmas hampers to tackling team challenges like tunnel ball, the knot challenge, and organizing ourselves by height and age, every task was designed to strengthen our bonds. Some challenges turned into friendly competitions, motivating us to collaborate and strive for victory against other core groups. Overall, the day was filled with enjoyment and left students enthusiastic and eager for the next Aspire 9 experience.

On the 20th of November we had the Tyabb + Rosebud combined concert. There were 19 - 20 acts in the whole concert, most were bands and music but there were 3 drama performances. All the acts were amazing, and everyone put in so much effort in this concert. The funniest part was that I brought 300 ducks and gave one to everyone in the concert and everyone was putting them on their instruments or making them a part of the performance. A few of us performed the rubber ducky song from Sesame Street and we put the ducks on the stage and a big one as well. It was a successful night filled with music, drama and ducks.

Last Wednesday all the year nines from across the campuses met at Gumbya World to celebrate the end of the year. It was fun to hang out and meet all the different people from the other campuses while going on the rollercoasters and waterslides. Although it was cold and raining most of the day it was still a really fun experience.

During this term we planned and painted our year 9 Legacy Wall, the art piece we leave behind to represent the year 9 class of 2024. This art piece is about the sea, with all the year 9's as the fishes swimming in the ocean. We made this design to show that despite everyone being slightly different from each other, we are all swimming to the same current. The art club and various student volunteers helped with painting the wall and all year 9's painted their fishes themselves.

In our last week, the year 9 Plant and Animal Studies class had the privilege of welcoming Chloe, a skilled local shearer from Mornington, to shear our three beloved sheep. Chloe demonstrated the art of shearing, ensuring the wool remained in a single piece, and explained the wool handling and classing process. Shearing, which happens annually, is essential for the sheep’s comfort, especially in the Australian summer, and helps them move more easily by shedding up to 10kg of wool. Under Chloe's careful guidance and support, all the students even had the chance to shear some of the sheep’s wool themselves, making it a truly hands-on and unforgettable learning experience.

On the 29th of November, a group of year sevens got together to teach some year six, five and fours from St. Joseph’s how to use the sewing machine. It was really fun teaching and helping them learn. By the end of the lesson we had sown many boomerang bags, scrunchies, lolly bags and many more. Thank you to all the students who volunteered their time to help out, and a big thank you to all the primary school kids who came and participated!

On a final note, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to our staff for their tireless dedication and the warmth and the care that each brings to their roles, with a special acknowledgment to three beloved staff members who are moving on: Mr. Gingell, our Doyle House Coordinator, Mrs. Kenyon, our Learning and Pedagogy Leader and Mr Kerr. Each have given so much to this campus, and their positive impact will be felt for years to come.
I would also like to thank our parents and carers for partnering with us in nurturing the young people in our care. Your support has contributed greatly to the positive and thriving environment we celebrate today, thank you!
Lastly, I wish all members of our Tyabb community a peace and joy-filled Christmas. I hope you all find some time for rest and relaxation over the festive season.
Take care, and God bless!

Congratulations to Eden Huddy and Jade Ross, who both received a Silver Award at the State Award Ceremony for their entry into the National History Challenge 2024 on 20 November. Eden and Jade created a museum exhibit entry based on the events of the Chernobyl disaster.
In early August Eden and I saw a post on Simon advertising the national history challenge. We were immediately interested and emailed Ms Murphy enquiring about the entry. We decided to make a 3D model of Chernobyl, it applied to the theme of the competition ‘Crisis and Action’. We spent a lot of after school time completing this project before submitting it the day it was due. We then waited in anticipation for further news. Early November this news came, in an email. It told us that we had come one of the top three in the state. A few weeks later we went to the award ceremony, it was held at St Aloysius in North Melbourne. We got there eventually and got our result. Young Historian Silver. Which means we progress to nationals!

The library is excited to announce that students can borrow books over the upcoming holiday period!
To make it even more fun, we’re launching a competition, open to students across all campuses. Students simply take a photo of a book they’ve borrowed while on holiday—whether it’s a biography beach read, a murder mystery whilst on a mountain escape, or a sci-fi short story on the sofa —students simply share their happy snap via library@padua.vicedu.au. The most creative photos will win amazing prizes.
As always, students can borrow up to 10 books at a time.
