Student Achievements

Billy Wilson

Football, friends and family are the three most important things for Year 12 Merton student, Billy Wilson. The Essendon supporter has always had a keen eye on AFL and signed up for Auskick at the Redhill Football Club at the age of eight. He won ‘Best and Fairest’ and two ‘Runners Up’ awards in the Under 10 to U13 age groups.

Billy moved to Dromana Junior Football Club to play in the Under 14 through to Under 16 age groups where he won ‘Best and Fairest’ and ‘Runners Up’. He represented the Mornington Peninsula Junior Football League (MPJFL) twice, winning Div 2 ‘Player of the Tournament’ in 2019 and ‘Runners Up’ twice in the MPJFL league ‘Best and Fairest’ (finishing in the top five players each year).

In 2022 Billy was invited to play with the regional’s best players for the U17 Dandenong Stingrays. As a top-age player this year, Billy’s hard work and sacrifices earned him the club’s ‘Best and Fairest’ award, sixth position on the Coates Talent League vote count and team of the year, and an invitation to the Sate Combine day of testing. His impressive test results will stand him in good stead for the 2023 AFL Draft, which will be announced 20-21 November.

We congratulate Billy on his sporting achievements and outstanding dedication, and we wish him all the best for the draft selection next month.

Kyra Webb & Kynan Phillipe

Congratulations to Kyra Webb and Kynan Phillipe, who have been selected in the 2024 Victoria Under-20 State Basketball teams for the National Championships (NC), which will be held at Ballarat in Jan/Feb 2024.

The National Championships are the pinnacle event for emerging athletes on a national stage as the teams compete to be crowned National Champion at the end of the tournament.

We wish Kyra and Kynan all the best for the National Championships.
