MACSSIS Surveys

Parents and guardians will have received an email early last week inviting participation in a Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools School Improvement Survey (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings that students, families, and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school. MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that each school can focus on. Our school believes it is important to encourage families to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school.

The survey is available online, can be accessed from Monday 2 September, and needs to be completed by Friday 20 September 2024. This survey may only be completed once. I encourage all parents and guardians to access and complete this survey to assist us on our journey for continued improvement.

Welcome Meetings

On Thursday 23 August, we conducted our annual Grade 6 Welcome Meetings with our 2025 Year 7 students. This is a most important day for these new students, as well as their families and staff who all value the time and preparation involved in ensuring they each feel welcomed to the College. I extend my thanks to all staff involved in these Grade 6 Welcome Meetings and I also thank Mr Phil Helisma, Mrs Rachael McIvor, Mr Nick Mitchell, and Mrs Kate Dwyer for their work in preparing for this day.

Intermediate Herald Sun Shield

Congratulations to the Mornington Campus Year 9/10 Girls SIS Football Team who competed in and won the Herald Sun Shield recently! My thanks to coaches Mr Sean Egan and Mr Jeremy Leihy, as well as Miss Holly Debnam for all their work in assisting the girls achieve this win.

SIS Athletics

Congratulations to all involved in the SIS Athletics held at Casey Fields Athletics Track on Tuesday 27 August, which saw Padua College students achieve another fantastic win taking out the junior and intermediate shields and the final score seeing us win by over 50 points. The weather conditions provided some challenges however the program was able to continue with only the high jump having to be cancelled. My thanks to all staff involved in organising and attending this event: Mrs Nicole Love, Miss Jen De Longville, Mr Luke Morgan, Miss Holly Debnam, Mrs Stacey Romeril, Mrs Penny Markham, Mr Peter Van Wees and Mrs Bernadette Marshall.

Year 12

As we swiftly head towards the end of Term Three, I ask all members of our College community to keep our Year 12 students in our prayers. Year 12 students will participate in trial exams over the coming weeks and will return from the Term 3 holidays with just a few short weeks of classes before they celebrate their graduation and, for those undertaking VCE, continue their preparation for the VCE written exams commencing on Tuesday 29 October.

Spring Gala Concerts

Last week we enjoyed the Mornington Campus Spring Gala Music Concerts on Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 September in our St Clare Performing Arts Centre. These concerts highlighted the wonderful talents of our students from Year 7 through to Year 12 and I thank staff including Mr Paul Jenkins, Mrs Jodie Williams, Mrs Kylie Donnelly, Mrs Stacey Brown, along with all staff involved in making these evenings such a success.

Tyabb Campus 10-Year Anniversary

This week we are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the opening of the Tyabb Campus, a significant milestone in the College. Celebrations will be held on Friday 13 September with the celebration of Mass, tree planting and a number of activities for all students at the Tyabb Campus to be involved in. We are looking forward to commemorating this significant occasion for our College.

Condolences

We remember in our prayers Padua College Alumni student, Stephanie Born, who passed away recently.

A number of families in our College community are mourning the recent passing of family members and we keep all these families in our prayers at this time, may they rest in peace.

I offer my best wishes to all members of our College community for the upcoming school holiday break and I look forward to welcoming all students and staff for Term Four.

Peace and blessings.
