All Schools Cross Country Championships

The All-Schools Cross Country competition was held at Bundoora Park on Saturday 20th July. A group of competitive and enthusiastic Padua students competed in various distances and age groups. Overall, the students performed extremely well in what was a day of terrible weather and trying conditions.

Some notable performances include Will Davies in Year 10 who finished his race in 6th place and Tom McGough who won his category. Both boys qualify for the state team and will be competing at Nationals next month in Tasmania.

Well done boys and we wish them both all the very best at Nationals.

Netball Championships

We had beautiful weather down at FDNA on Tuesday 30th July for our All Schools Netball Championships.

Padua entered 6 inter-campus teams across the junior, intermediate, and senior divisions.

All the girls had a great time and came away with new friends, an increased love for netball, and the following results:

We were so lucky with the weather on Thursday 1st August down at the Casey Fields Athletics Track where we joined the two smaller campuses from Rosebud and Tyabb to compete throughout the day.

At the Tyabb campus we had the following results:

On Tuesday 30th of July, Rosebud and Tyabb campus held athletics day at Casey fields, There was many opportunities for everyone to mix with the other campus and meet new people to build new friendships, we saw so many people participating in many events from both campuses throughout the day which was amazing to see also seeing everyone getting involved and cheering on their friends was awesome, we would like to thank the teachers for putting all of this together and making that day fun and enjoyable for everyone and would also like to thank everyone that put in effort to participate in the activities, in conclusion from Rosebud campus McAuley which is blue house won and from Tyabb Cardijn which is green house who won also.

Senior Athletics

Our Senior House Athletics Carnival was held on Tuesday, 6 August. Blessed with great weather, our students showed outstanding House spirit and enthusiastic competition. Congratulations to Ruby Geurts (Year 10 John XXIII) and Jesse Somdecerff (Year 10 Mercy) for being named the fastest male and female sprinters in the 100m for 2024. A big shoutout to Francis House for winning the athletics carnival for a second year in a row. Thanks to our dedicated sports staff, student helpers and best of luck to all students competing in the SIS athletics carnival on Tuesday 27 August.

Callum Rossetto

Congratulations to Callum Rossetto (Year 11 John XXIII) who was selected for the Swim team for the School Sport Australia Games on the Gold Coast 27-31 July 2024. The event saw thousands of students compete across six sports including Australian football, basketball, hockey, netball, softball, and swimming. The swimming competition also included international teams from Fiji and the Cook Islands.

Callum competed in six individual events (Boys 17-19yrs) and three relay events in which he achieved several PBs. His individual events included:

400m individual medley, 3rd (pb)

200m freestyle, 5th (pb)

400m freestyle, 6th (pb)

200m backstroke, 7th (pb)

100m backstroke, 10th (pb)

50m freestyle, 14th
