CURTIS STONE
VICE PRINCIPAL | HEAD OF MORNINGTON YEAR 10-12 CAMPUS
We have enjoyed a busy start to term two with students involved in ECAT, Year 10 Careers Interviews, the College Production of Mamma Mia!, school camps, and SIS sports back. Such a breadth of opportunity awaits all students to partake in the life of the College, and for those that do so in conjunction with their academic program, a greater connection to the College is felt, and enhanced wellbeing follows. I encourage all parents to continue to talk with their children about taking a step outside their comfort zone and embracing a new challenge during their time at Padua.
With Units 2 and 4 now well underway, student attention should be focused on making the necessary changes to continue to improve upon their learning journey. Students should take the time to clarify with teachers, build study groups and ensure that time is spent ‘on task’. This will ensure that they reap the rewards at the end of the year.
As always, I encourage all parents to continue to be active members of the Padua community, engaging in conversation about what topics are being studied in class, keeping abreast of upcoming events, and making contact with subject teachers as needed.
Our Year 12 VCAL students will be participating in Mock Interviews for their Work Related Skills Unit. We are seeking local business owners who might be interested in being part of this process with our Year 12 students.
If you are interested, please contact Mel Gilchrist – Head of Applied Learning Pathways via email: mgilchirst@padua.vic.edu.au or call 59760100.
Congratulations to Leila Binder, Zoe Smith, Bella Markham, and Hayley Stroker for their fantastic effort in the SIS interschools Teen Chef competition on Thursday 3 August. Each team produced a main meal and dessert for the Australian Culinary Federation judges and the skill level and food presented were outstanding. We didn’t place this year but have learned so much to prepare for the 2024 event. The girls demonstrated fantastic teamwork, creativity, organisation, and knowledge of their dishes, and the comments from the judges were very complimentary.
