SHANNON MAHER
CAREERS LEADER
ECaT was a great success! It was wonderful to see so many students there learning about school subjects and post-school study options. The event was attended by representatives from over 20 tertiary institutions, and they praised our students for being so engaged and asking questions.
Subject selection (for Years 9s, 10s, and 11s) has now closed. If you haven’t submitted your subject selection application, please speak to your campus Learning & Pedagogy Leader before Wednesday 9 August.
For students who wish to apply for tertiary study, we remind you that VTAC applications have opened. We hope you have been able to view the information provided on how to set up your VTAC account and have done this.
On Tuesday 8 August we will host an information session in the lecture theatre guiding students through the steps required to enter course preferences and complete their VTAC application.
To create your VTAC account you must have your VCAA student number (emailed to the personal email you provided the school) and your USI (if you don’t have one go to https://www.usi.gov.au/students/find-your-usi).
Shortly, we will be emailing students a link they can use to book an appointment with careers staff if they need help with applications, SEAS, scholarships, employment, etc. We will also provide information about large/group sessions being offered.
VTAC have a YouTube channel with a range of short clips to help to step you through the application process. You can find this at: https://www.youtube.com/user/vtacmedia/videos.
We encourage students and parents to attend upcoming university open days. Open days are a great opportunity to learn about courses of interest, get a feel for university life, and help students with deciding what they might like to study post-school. Open Day dates for select universities are listed below.
View other Open Day dates via Padua College Careers Calendar.
Applications are now open for the University of Melbourne Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program. This flagship high school program is open to Year 10 students from all Victorian schools, offering access to exclusive University events and academic enrichment activities for two years.
The Program Committee is committed to selecting one eligible student from each participating school.

**Please note that student applications must be finalised and submitted by Friday 1 September.
The College will then endorse student applications and the recipient will be notified from 15 November.
To be eligible to apply for the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program, students must be in Year 10 at a high school in Victoria or select schools on the SA and NSW border region.
The selection panel will consider:
