Activities in the Library

The library has been abuzz with the various activities happening at recess and lunchtime. These include Drama Club, Knitting Club, Book Club, Debating, Chess and Strategic Games.

Lunchtime Soccer Competition

At the start of Term Two, six teams were chosen to play in a lunchtime competition. Every team played each other once. There was lots of passion and energy in these short intense games, with the top two teams (Teams 3 and 4) being undefeated and Teams 1 and 5 making the finals by a sliver. Ryan’s Team 4 vs Michaels’s Team 1 played in a thriller semi-final with Team 4 winning 2-0. Then Team 3 and Team 5 played a game resulting in a 1-1 draw, going into a penalty shoot out. Both teams put up a great fight with the Team 3 captain saving the game. So far all the games have been fairly close but this was the final Team 3 vs Team 4.

In the first minute of the game, Ryan Ajai crossed the ball to Lachie Green straight in front of goal and Lachie quickly tapped the goal in. Team 4 went crazy thinking that they had an early lead but the decision was overturned and it was called offside. Then the ball rolls out for a corner. The corner was whipped in and Issac Koralege bumped it in. It was 1-1, then a throw in came and captain Christian of Team 3 scored. It was now 2-1 and Team 4 was down after the break. When play resumed Ryan Ajai passed to Lachie Green who crossed the ball to Phoenix Pike who tapped it in for 2-2. With 2 minutes remaining the crowd roared and cheered. With 1 minute remaining the ball finds itself between Ryan Ajai’s feet. Just like a magician, Ryan dribbles through the entirety of the Team 3 and gets to the box. With a left-footed rocket of a strike the ball is curled into the post and spins behind the goal line. The crowd goes wild and with that Team 4 win the game with 30 seconds remaining. The MVP of the tournament was Ryan Ajai and the champions were Team 4. Thanks to Mr Helisma, Ms Modd, the referees and the team captains for organising this event.

“NOW MORE THAN EVER”

National Reconciliation Week’s theme for 2024, was Now More Than Ever, and is a reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will —and must —continue. For the reconciliation week, the visual art’s captains produced a paper hand display that is now in the Library at the Rosebud campus at Padua. It was a simple task with homerooms colouring in a hand that represented “NOW MORE THAN EVER” or ‘’RECONCILIATION’’. Thank you for making this task possible.

Padua Day

On Thursday the 20th of June, Rosebud, Tyabb and Mornington gathered together to celebrate Padua Day. We participated in a mass to celebrate Saint Anthony of Padua. The day contained many activities held by each House and there were many musical performances to enjoy. Money was raised at the St Vinnie’s lolly shop and we were lucky enough to have free hot dogs, donuts and soft drinks. It was a perfect day to start new friendships and hang out with others you may already know. Overall, it was a great day to gather and celebrate Saint Anthony of Padua.

FLINDERS GOLF ACADEMY

Over the past term, five other girls and I have been involved in the Flinders Golf Academy. We meet with Harry, the Flinders Golf pro, once a week during lunchtime to develop our skills and refine our technique. We started off by using tennis balls inside then quickly progressed to hitting golf balls on the oval. This has been so much fun, and I am looking forward to playing at Flinders Golf Course next term.

Rosebud SIS Sport

This term Rosebud had six teams heading out for weekly SIS sport starting with our two Junior Girls Netball teams with both teams managing to get a win for the season against some tough competition. The Junior Boys Soccer team took home the pennant undefeated congratulations to all the boys involved and coach Sean Chappell on the terrific performance.

Every Thursday we played sis soccer and this season we won all of the games with only 5 or 6 goals being scored against us. Our biggest win was 18 vs 0 against Cornish and Marley was our leading goal-scorer. We had lots of fun and we will celebrate with a pizza party. Thank you to Mr Chappell for being a great coach – Xavier Koole Year 8

Our Intermediate Boys football team played against some very hard competition and only managed one win for the season the boy spirits still remained high with great performances by many in the team.

Some of the Year 9 girls participated in the sis team representing Rosebud Padua. The girls had a great season as they have won majority of their games. The girls have displayed their ability through teamwork and skill levels. The most resent game against SFX Berwick was a cliffhanger coming back from being down by quite a bit to winning with a goal just before the siren. Overall, the girls have played well, congratulations to Rosebud Padua Yr 9 girls football team.

Caitlin Ingram & Kiara Raeburn Year 9

The Year 9 Boys played 5 games all up. The first four were sadly met by defeat but in the last game we broke the losing streak and won 3 sets to 1. All the team members gave it their all, especially in the last game, we all worked with great team chemistry and finally won. Overall, it was an amazing opportunity to be able to play SIS Volleyball, lots of fun memories were made and we are all happy about that final win.

Tenzin Anderson Year 9

In Term 2, our year 8 Junior D Netball team had a lot of good and bad. We versed lots of different schools around the peninsula and played a total of 5 games and we won 1 but played our best but didn't come out with our favourable result. However, towards the end we won our first game against hillcrest and we came out with the win, with a score of 18-19. On behalf of our team we would like to say big thank you to Mrs Paxino for taking us to the games and being a great coach.

Layla Moore

Overall, Term 2 was marked by notable achievements and enthusiasm across all sports. The dedication and hard work of the players, along with the support of staff coaches contributed to a successful term of football, volleyball, netball, and soccer for the Rosebud campus. A very big thank you to all the staff who coached these teams.
