Padua Day

What a wonderful day we had celebrating Padua Day on Friday 9 June! Students from all three campuses joined together at the Mornington Campus to listen to a special presentation from Fr Rob Galea, celebrate Mass, share in a pizza lunch and then enjoy the many activities around the campus in the afternoon.

A very special thank you to Mr Matthew Williams and the Faith Team, Ms Cathy Moloney and the organisational team and Mrs Deb Clarke, Mrs Sarah Hansen and the Admin Team – organising lunch for 2,500 people is no easy task! There are many members of our community to thank for the wonderful day we celebrated together, and I sincerely wish to thank them for ensuring that we were able to enjoy this day together for the first time in many years.

I was also honoured to be able to share my commissioning as Principal at Padua College with the whole community on Friday. this was truly a special occasion and one I will cherish forever.

SIS Cross Country

Earlier this term, Padua College students competed in the SIS Cross-Country Carnival at Casey Fields, winning for the 35th consecutive year and taking all the major shields including, Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Girls Aggregate, Boys Aggregate and Overall Shields.

Well done to all the competing students for their efforts and my thanks to Mr Terry Luppino, Mr Emilio Di Paolo, Ms Anna Whittaker, Mrs Nicole Love, Miss Jen de Longville, Mr Jayden Tomkins, Mr Mark De Fazio, Mr Ken Yeuong and all staff who supported these students. See our Sports report for more photos.

State Aerobics Competition

Congratulations to the seven Padua College aerobics teams who competed in the State Aerobics competition earlier in the Term. The girls all did very well with four of the teams who competed making it through to the National Championships to be held in Adelaide in August. The Mornington Year 8 Team (Coaches Mackenzie Dornom, Year 12 and Paige McIvor Year 11), Senior Team (Coach Mrs Cassie Collier) and Mornington Duo (Coach Mrs Kellie Jolley) and Tyabb Trio (Coach Mrs Sarah Bailey) will now all compete for the National titles!

Congratulations also to the other teams and coaches, (Mia O'Malley and Lucy Seletto both Year 11), Mrs Louise Paxino and Mrs Rachael McIvor.

GAT

Last week, all Year 12 students along with Year 11 students undertaking a Unit 3/4 subject, sat the GAT. Congratulations to the approximately 500 who sat this two-part test. The organisation involved for this was significant and I thank Mrs Helen Sugameli, Mr Travis Pearce, Ms Lauren Cameron, Ms Kate McLoughlin, Mrs Kirstie Cameron, Ms Julie Young and Mr Curtis Stone for all their efforts in ensuring the success of the running of this test.

Year 10 & Year 11 Exams

Year 10 and Year 11 students recently successfully completed their exams over a two-week period. I extend my thanks to all staff engaged in ensuring the success of this important assessment process. I again wish to acknowledge the work of Mrs Helen Sugameli, Mr Travis Pearce, Ms Kate McLoughlin, Ms Lauren Cameron, Mrs Kirstie Cameron, Mr Curtis Stone, Ms Julie Young, Mrs Danielle Jaspers, Mrs Cherie Gage and Mrs Kelly Parrish, along with teaching staff involved in the preparation of these exams.

Year 11 Social

Last Friday 16 June, Year 11 students celebrated their Year 11 Social, held in our own St Clare Performing Arts Centre. My thanks to Ms Julie Young, Mrs Deb Clarke, and Ms Stacey Brown for organising this event and all staff who attended this event to support our students. See the Senior Campus report for more photos.

College Production

We are all looking forward to the realisation of the many hours of rehearsals for our College Production early next Term! This will be the first school production to be held in our own St Clare Performing Arts Centre and performances and tickets are nearly sold out. An enormous amount of work has gone into preparation for this production, and it promises to be an outstanding show!

Gala Concert

On Tuesday and Wednesday night we were treated to a spectacular Music Performance in the St Clare Performing Arts Centre. To see the range of students on stage as well as backstage both enjoying the experience and being justifiably proud of their performances was a delight in our final week of term. One highlight of the concert was a performance by past and current students with the list of performers displayed on the screen ranging from the Class of 2014 to the Class of 2025.

Congratulations to all students involved across the two nights and thank you to the Performing Arts Team for leading this wonderful showcase. Staff included: Mr Paul Jenkins, Mrs Jodie Williams, Mrs Gina Reimers, Ms Jackie Sannia, Ms Gabrielle Parker, Mrs Tania Edwards, Mr Simon Best, Mr Jamie Grima, Mr David Tohill, Ms Rowena Young, Mr Duane Manning, Ms Cindy Taylor, Mr Mike Arthur, Mr Robb Dabbs, Mrs Kylie Donnelly, Mrs Stacey Brown and Mrs Gabe Noonan.
