MATTHEW WILLIAMS
VICE PRINCIPAL MISSION, IDENTITY, COMMUNITY
We celebrated as one community on Friday 9 June our Padua Day. It is important for our school culture that we continue to emphasise the importance of gathering as a community to celebrate and that we are all part of something much bigger than our own individual stories at Padua College. Highlights of the day amongst many fun activities was our Padua Day Mass celebrated by Bishop Tony Ireland and Mornington Peninsula priests and a presentation to all students from Fr Rob Galea, renowned priest and rock star.
I encourage all in our Padua College community to be aware of the 125-year anniversary celebration dinner to be held at the Mornington Racecourse on Saturday 26 August. Buy some tickets, come along, and reminisce with some old Paduans!

All teaching staff participated in a professional learning session on 27 April titled "The Catholic school of the future". Below are several staff reflections on questions posed in relation to Padua's Catholic tradition and identity.
"We are steeped in a long and proud tradition of educating and caring for the whole person. We are passionate about Gospel values and the inspirational leadership of the Mercy sisters."
"Padua College is guided by a belief that students are unique, made in the image of God and we are called to empower their God given talents."
"The mullets are more fabulous at Padua! Padua College has a strong sense of identity as we strive to live in the manner that upholds the teachings of Christ."
"Catholic culture: Morning prayer, pastoral care, homeroom, named after significant Catholic figures who we use as our role models, the welcoming nature of the school, care for families (particularly those who are doing it tough), masses and liturgies."
"Padua is centred on servant leadership in the model of Christ. As a Christ-centred school, we seek to make Christ the centre of all our actions and decisions, and how we treat our students."
