Dear families,

Modd Lisa

LISA MODD

CO-DIRECTOR, ROSEBUD CAMPUS

We wish all our Year 9 students heading off on the first of their Focus Week Camps a wonderful time. This experience will allow for our Rosebud students to further their relationships with students from the Mornington and Tyabb Campuses. We hope the weather is favourable and look forward to hearing about their experiences on their return.

A reminder that the official changeover day for the Winter uniform was Wednesday 1 May. Any student wearing pants/shorts must wear a school tie from this date. A reminder too to please complete the survey from Mr Sam Wright, Vice Principal - Students.

Rosebud Cross Country

It was a great way to start the term off by getting straight into cross country and, typical of Melbourne weather, we had some rain, wind and sunshine. This didn’t stop the enthusiasm and outstanding efforts from the students who participated, making it a great day for all involved.

With help from the Sports Captains and staff, the day was a complete success with Anthony House taking home the win after 13 years. Well done to the other Houses in order of place Goold, McAuley and Teresa.

There were some close finishes in several races and congratulations to everyone who placed in the top 10 and the winners.

ANZAC Day Liturgy

The ANZAC Day liturgy preparation was a busy time, but we got the whole school community to make and colour in poppies that the Visual Arts Captains printed out. Some of the poppies are sitting on one of the Padua banners in the Rosebud Campus. The rest of the poppies were made into wreaths from each of the homerooms of McAuley, Teresa, Anthony and Goold. The Visual Arts Captains came up with the idea of colouring in poppies and sticking them on wreaths. The poppies that the Art Captains liked the most have gotten commendations or will be getting commendations. Thank you for participating in the activity, it wouldn’t have been possible without the Rosebud students or staff.

ANZAC Day Services

There were several Padua Rosebud students (and former Rosebud students) who attended local ANZAC Day services. Noah Fayle Year 12 Merton (and formerly Teresa) led the Sorrento service in the hymn 'Abide by me' and the National Anthem.

Congratulations to Tom McGough

Thomas McGough (Year 8 Goold) recently competed in Adelaide at the Athletics Australia National Track and Field Championships. Tom medalled in every event he competed in, coming away with four gold medals, two silver and two bronze as well as obtaining three Athletic Australia national records. One of these was 100m U15para record which makes Tom the current Australian record holder for this race. The following is an impressive final tally of medals Thomas received:

100m Gold
200m Gold
400m Silver
800m Bronze
1500m Silver
Discuss Gold
Javelin Bronze
Shot put Gold

An outstanding achievement Tom!

Liverpool Soccer Launch

Today we went to the Mornington Campus for the Liverpool International partnership launch. Allegra, Sara and Ryan were the representatives for the Rosebud Campus who played in the exhibition game and drills. We enjoyed Ms McGurn interviewing former student and jockey Jake Noonan as well as the interview with Matilda’s player Elise Kellond-Knight. It was interesting to hear how perseverance plays an important role in their careers. We all really enjoyed this experience.
