A Term of Triumph for the Performing Arts at Padua College

As we wrap up an incredibly busy and rewarding first term, it’s clear that the Performing Arts department at Padua College has hit the ground running. From impressive musical performances to stellar individual achievements, our students and staff have truly excelled in a range of artistic pursuits.

Guys & Dolls - March

After reviewing over 150 video submissions, followed by a rigorous round of callbacks and much deliberation, we are thrilled to announce the cast for this year’s school musical, Guys and Dolls. Congratulations to our leading performers: Jake Symes, Harley Hanafi, Amelia Wilkinson, Fyonn Munro, Angelia Krtalic, Chloe Sayers, Tom McInnes, William Badaracchi and Kai McCoy. We can’t wait to see them bring this iconic show to life on stage!

Autumn Soiree

Our Autumn Soiree on March 19th was a resounding success, featuring solo performances from students at all levels. Some performers graced the stage for the first time, while others showcased pieces in preparation for their upcoming VCE music exams. The diverse program ranged from Mussorgsky to Megadeth, demonstrating the incredible versatility and talent within our music department.

Concert In The Park

On March 21, three of our senior music ensembles took to the stage for the Concert in the Park, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with an entirely Irish music program. This event, hosted in Melbourne’s beautiful Treasury Gardens, saw 20 Padua students performing alongside musicians from Kilbreda College and De La Salle College. Their 40-minute set was a fantastic celebration of Irish culture and music, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

SIS Music

Looking ahead, we are excited for the Southern Independent Schools (SIS) Performing Arts Concert on April 1st. For the second consecutive year, Padua College music and dance students will perform at The Drum Theatre in Dandenong. With 52 students signed up for this dynamic event, they will not only refine their technical skills but also perform challenging repertoire and build connections with other talented artists from SIS schools across the state.

Student Achievements

This term has also been one of remarkable individual accomplishments. Year 11 student Jasper Tourbier has been accepted into the prestigious Melbourne Youth Orchestra, a huge achievement for such a talented young musician. Additionally, we are proud to recognize Year 12 student Sam Boyden, who delivered a stellar performance at last month’s High Achiever’s Assembly. Sam’s remarkable achievement of a perfect score of 50 in VCE VET Music in 2024 is a testament to his dedication and musical prowess.

As we look back on these successes, we are incredibly proud of the commitment and passion our students bring to the performing arts. With so much talent and enthusiasm, we are eager to see what the rest of the year holds!

Top Class

It's been a bustling two weeks for our VCE Performing Arts students! As part of their studies, students from VCE Music, VCE-VET Music, Drama, and Theatre Studies attended the prestigious Top Class performances at the Melbourne Recital Centre.

Top Class showcases the highest-scoring performances from last year's VCE Performance exams (2024), featuring an array of talent in music ensembles, solo performances, drama solos, and theatre studies monologues. Additionally, VCE Drama and Theatre Studies students attended the MTC production of The Robot Dog as part of their assessment on Theatre and Drama analysis. This cheeky comedy explores the loss of cultural identity in the not-so-distant future, featuring an actual robot dog as a character on stage.

Our students were inspired and motivated by witnessing these top-tier performances. Stay tuned for more updates on our students' artistic journeys!https://www.padua.vic.edu.au/a...
