2025 has commenced with new possibilities and opportunities to learn and grow for our Tyabb students. As we begin the year, we encourage each of our students to step forward with enthusiasm, kindness, and a commitment to personal growth.
Our 2025 College Theme of "Vow to do good today but better tomorrow”, reminds us that every day is an opportunity to improve, to learn from our experiences, and to become a better version of ourselves. Doing good today means being kind, working hard, and making choices that reflect our values. But we don’t stop there. We challenge ourselves to be even better tomorrow—to learn from our mistakes, to push beyond our comfort zones, and strive for greater things. This applies to our studies, our friendships, our personal goals, and our role in the community.
Term One has already presented several exciting opportunities for student growth and, in continuing to celebrate student voice as a means of empowering our young people, students have shared some of their experiences below…
To start off the school year, we hosted an entire Tyabb Campus assembly to welcome our new Year 7s and talk about the amazing opportunities of what this term will bring. The Year 7s were introduced House by House with our school leaders carrying the coloured banners. At this assembly, we also had the privilege to see some of the leaders be given their badges. Overall, it was an immersive experience to feel a sense of belonging with our fellow students and teachers, as we welcome in the exciting opportunities of 2025.

On Wednesday 12 February, all the Year 9s from Padua College attempted the gruelling uphill trek to Seawinds, Arthurs Seat. In 30 degree weather, this was our very first challenging experience in Year 9. We have many more challenges ahead so we were grateful for this uphill challenge to get us started.
It was a tough, sweaty walk but it was all worth it once we got to the top. We had a scenic little lunch break and then had a peaceful 30 minute liturgy which was led by the student leaders. After the liturgy, we went into groups of 20 students from all campuses and played mini games to get to know each other. We all received melted zooper-doopers which were really tasty and then headed off to the bus bays to make our way back to school.
Overall, this was a great opportunity to make new friends and meet new people from all the other campuses.

This week on Tuesday all the Padua Campuses met up to congratulate the outstanding work of the 2024 Year 12s and to welcome the new Year Sevens into our community. We all sat in the hall and clapped and praised those who worked exceptionally hard, while hearing some words of advice to get us through this journey. Thank you to everyone that joined in, it was a great day!

On Thursday 13 February, Padua College held a mass at the Mornington Campus for Year 7s, new students, Staff and school leaders. The Year 7s, the Class of 2028, paraded in with their House banners and leaders, showing the College that they are proud to be at Padua and ready for their journey through high school. The staff and leaders said a pledge to the school for 2025, that they will always do their best for the school and the students. The mass was filled with respect for God, and wonderful music from the Music in The Spirit class.

Year 7 have begun their Science education with a few experiments. Firstly, students attained their Bunsen Burner Licence (see opening image). This allows students to use a bunsen burner without teacher assistance in experiments.
Year 7 have also made volcanos using household items. Using their measurement skills and new understating of laboratory equipment to create these ‘explosions’. Students had a wonderful time adding different measurements to see if other mixtures would work too. Reactions were fast and entertaining with all students able to have a go of creating their own volcanoes with different colours.
